Herpes Info
HSV-1 Info (Oral Herpes) On October 10, 2001, I was diagnosed with a disease called Herpes Simplex Virus 2, or genital herpes (HSV-2 for short).  At first, this diagnosis was very life altering to me.  I was 21 years old at that time, and had just lost my virginity.

Being from the country, I had a very backwoods doctor.  He tried to convince me that the man that gave it to me knew he had it.  Needless to say, I blew up at my boyfriend.  He stood by his story that he had no clue that he was infected, and had never had an outbreak of any sort.  I then called the CDC's hotline on sexually transmitted diseases, and that's when I found out that you can go for YEARS without and symptoms!

After doing research and making many, many long distance phone calls to hotlines world wide, I came to the conclusion that I need to make a page about my disease.  One that is in common English, not hard-to-understand doctor talk.  I hope that I can educate people on how to prevent catching and spreading this disease.  If you have already been diagnosed, I hope I can help you realize, you are not alone

You aren't alone!
